In this paper, we attempt to understand as much as possible the theoreticalfoundations of the concept and to conceptualize it as a major study of sociology.

The studyrelies on a theoretical approach aimed at controlling and defining the concept of socialchange as presented in the literature and sociological studies, And this approach aims tohighlight the theoretical contributions that approached the subject of social change, inorder to provide a coherent theoretical framework that helps to understand and study thephenomena of social change, and this paper addressed the definitions of social andlinguistic change and the standard Philosophical, sociological, and mechanisms of socialchange and related concepts, the basic principles of change and its factors andcharacteristics, and stages, and its importance and its manifestations, and drawbacks, andfinally the theories of social change
