This study deals with shedding light on corruption and its effects on the fields of economic development, and aims to identify the nature of corruption, its patterns, causes, fields of its prevalence and its effects, the study relied on the descriptive analytical approach, using various references that dealt with subjects, through this study, we reached several results, the most important of which are: -corruption patterns are many and varied, but some are more prevalent than others, -the causes of corruption are due to political, social, cultural, economic and other factors, -the corruption has many effects on the economic, social, cultural, political and security aspects of society.
