Abstract EN

This research paper aims to identify the effectiveness of using mathematical representation in improving students' achievement in the percentage and proportionality concepts, and students' self-efficacy of sixth grade students in the state of Kuwait.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the quasi-experimental approach was conducted by mathematical representation to a randomly selected sample of 52 sixth grade students in the state of Kuwait.

The control group consisted of 26 students who were taught using the conventional method while the experimental group (n= 26) were taught using the teaching approach based on mathematical representations.

Both groups were evaluated using percentage and proportionality concepts test, and the students' self efficacy in mathematics questionnaire.

The study found that teaching sixth graders using the mathematical representation approach was effective in increasing their achievement, as well as improving the degree students' self-efficacy in mathematics.

The study recommended satisfying the need to present courses and workshops for teachers to study mathematical representation activities, and to encourage learners to engage in construction of mathematical representations activities.
