Abstract EN

The present study aims at the discovery and discussion about the beginnings of the “Sufi poetry” during the first two centuries of the hijra.

then it goes on describing the stages the Sufi poetry went through and its partition in the following parts.

the first is the period before al-Hallâj (m.309H / 922dC).

we don’t find in this period a complete Sufi ode or Diwan.

we find only some Sufi verses attributed to some ascetics belonging to the first ascetic movement (Zuhd).

in the second period, after al-Hallâj, we find some Sufi poetry and Diwan which have been edited and published in a proper way in the movement of orientalism.

after that we shall concentrate on the great effort done by the Italian orientalist, Giuseppe Scattolin, in offering a critical edition of the Diwan of Ibn al-Farid and a study of his Sufi poetry.

in the same time, we shall try to shed some light on the beginning, the growing translations and studies in the west on the Diwan of Ibn al-Farid.

we intend to place the effort of Giuseppe Scattolin in its place among all those studies, trying to put in light the new results he has reached from that point or view.
