Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal the relationship of self-concept to hope among a sample of Oran university students 2 and to reveal the differences between gender, age groups and academic specialization (scientific and literary) in terms of self-concept and hope.

two questionnaires were used, namely : the Tennessee list to measure self-concept.

the second tool is the Snyder hope (goal measure) questionnaire developed by Snyder and colleagues (1991).

the study was conducted at the university of Mohammed Bin Ahmed Oran 2, a random sample of 160 male and female students.

the results revealed that there is a statistically significant correlation between the concept of self, physical self, personal self, social self, and moral self.

and between hope, ways or paths, energy and will, while it appears that there is no associative relationship between the family self and the ways or paths.

the study also found that there are no statistically significant differences between gender in terms of self-concept and its dimensions, with the exception of the moral self.

there is a statistically significant difference between gender in favor of females.

the statistical results did not show the existence of statistically significant differences between the scientific specialization in terms of self-concept and its dimensions.

and both gender and scientific specialization in terms of hope and its dimensions.
