Abstract EN

This research aim to study the structural change in the population composition resulting for demographic transition in Algeria, and define the concept of a demographic dividend, and how can young people be used as an opportunity to achieve economic and development profit by citing the most important factors that ensure the security of the demographic dividend, while presenting models for some countries.

we used the data from the national office of statistics in this research, general population censuses, and using the descriptive analytical to presenting the search results.

the following results have been reached : Algeria has know a marked decrease in both births and deaths, enabled it to reach advanced stages of demographic transition and reach the stage of dividend, it is still within the time frame of this phenomenon, the structural change of the population showed a decline in the proportion of dependent category, an increase in the size of the working age population and a relative rise in the youth population.

the results also showed that this phase is time limited, in light of these results, the study proposes to follow the appropriate policies to ensure demographic returns before this opportunity is missed.
