The European countries came out of World War II economically exhausted, and they experienced heavy crises, perhaps the most important of which was the food deficit.

Accordingly, after the establishment of the European Economic Community and then the European Union, the strived to promote the agricultural sector and achieve self-sufficiency by following a common European policy in the field of agriculture, which provided European countries have all the capabilities, especially a large part of the EU budget, in order to achieve food security and economic prosperity, and to transform the sector from a traditional to a modern one.
