This study aims to analyze the reality of the pricing system and mechanisms in Algeria.

the price represents the value of the commodity or service through which a balance can be achieved between production and consumption, which is the most important tool for controlling competition.

however, most countries, including Algeria, have a price support policy, especially for some strategic sectors and activities, but although government support raises the purchasing power of citizens and contributes to the redistribution of income, it is generalized and benefits those with high and limited incomes alike, because it does not target only those who deserve it, and it also contributes to waste and extravagance.

on the other hand, the law in Algeria enshrines the principle of freedom of competition and economic freedom constitutionally, where setting prices according to market law is the goal because it enables all dealers to have their right to set prices freely, but the bet is to protect those with limited income and fight speculation, monopoly and domination.
