Abstract EN

Algeria faces significant economic challenges as a result of its export dependence on a single sector, the fuel sector, which is the main source of financing for its balance of payments, while other sectors still contribute little to GDP.

thus, Algeria sought to adopt a strategy of economic diversification, especially after oil prices fell in mid-2014, by adopting a package of policies aimed at restructuring the economy.

among the options available is the agricultural sector in which Algeria has enormous potential.

this research aims to determine the extent to which the agricultural sector contributes to the achievement of economic diversification in Algeria through the output of the sector and the value added ratio to the gross national product.

through this study, we found a weak contribution of the agricultural sector to achieving economic diversification and a stable value-added ratio within the limit of 10% of the GDP, with the employment rate in the sector falling to 12% of the total number of workers.
