Abstract EN

This study seeks to revisit the “Africa rising" discourse through different epistemological and analytical visions، especially in light of the various challenges facing the continent and the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on African societies.

from the perspective of the political economy approach، the study argues that the "Africa Rising" discourse may not have a solid foundation.

African economies may have registered modest growth in recent years، but the growth is not occurring in the sectors that matter the most.

on the other hand، the rosy picture of rising Africa may mask the continent's continuing marginal position in the global capitalist structure of power، domination، and exploitation.

nevertheless، the continent has the demographic، economic، and natural potentials that qualify it for rising، which raises the question of the renaissance and the possibilities of changing the marginal status that africa has been suffering from in the international system for many centuries.
