Abstract EN

This research paper aims to study and analyze the issue of economic diversification and its reality in Algeria, by knowing the concepts related to economic diversification and the indicators adopted for its measurement, with a focus on the Herfindal Hirschmann Index (HHI) during the period (2010-2019) and analyzing the development of this indicator and its relationship With the GDP growth rate during the same period, and in order to neutralize the impact of the hydrocarbon sector, the comparison will also be made between the economic diversification index and industries outside of hydrocarbons, such as the food industry and the chemical industry.

The study showed that there is a trend towards economic diversification in Algeria during the study period in some economic sectors, but it remains insufficient given the great importance that the oil sector still plays.
