Abstract EN

The study aims to identify the extent of employment of educational supervisors for professional learning communities in basic education schools as perceived by the senior teachers and to explore the challenges that educators face as such.

It also aims to identify the differences between the averages of the degree of challenges that can be attributed to gender, the educational qualification.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive approach was adopted; using two questionnaires : the first one to measure the extent to which educational supervisors employ professional learning communities from the point of view of the senior teachers.

The second one to identify the challenges facing the educational supervisors from their point of view.

Results revealed that the extent of the employment of educational supervisors for professional learning commu nities as perceived by senior teachers is low with a mean value 2.21.

Also, results indicated that the degree of challenges faced by educational supervisors was high with a mean value 3.77, and statistically significant differences related to gender in favour of females.

Besides, there were no statistically significant differences as of the challenges faced by educational supervisors in employing professional learning communities' strategies, to be attributed to qualification, experience, or gender.

The researchers recommended that a strategy should be adopted to employ professional learning communities policies in the educational field, and to raise awareness among employees of the teaching, administrative and supervisory bodies.
