Abstract EN

The study aims to explore the effectiveness of teaching social studies using the aesthetic approach in the development of reflective thinking skills and the tendency towards a subject for intermediate third grade students in Riyadh city in Saudi Arabia.

The study sample consisted of 60 female students from the intermediate third grade students.

30 students of them represented the experi mental group, and they studied the unit of "Natural Resources of My country"; after rephrasing it in light of the aesthetic approach.

It is one of the units of the text book of Social studies for intermediate third grade students in the first semester of the school year 1439-1440; while the control group (n=30) studied using the traditional method of teaching.

The reflective thinking skills test and the tendency for the subject scale were applied before and after on the study sample.

Results revealed statistically significant differences at the level of 0.001 between the mean scores of the students of the experimental group and the mean scores of the students of the control group, in the reflective thinking skills test and the tendency towards the subject.

The result was in favor of the experimental group.
