Abstract EN

The study aims at identifying the degree of acceptability of staff members at Jazan University (K.S.A) for the role of university students in evaluating teaching performance; by answering the following questions : What is the extent staff members at Jazan University (K.S.A) reach for accepting the students' role in evaluating teaching performance? Are there any statistical differences among the means of staff members at Jazan University (K.S.A) for accepting the students' role in evaluating teaching performance, attributed to sex, scientific specialization, academic rank, and years of experience in university teaching? in order to answer these questions, a questionnaire was designed of (33) items, and applied to (183) of staff members.

findings revealed that, the staff members' acceptance was generally average for the contents of two fields : the importance of the students' role in evaluating teaching performance, (quality of students' evaluation for teaching performance.

additionally, their acceptance was generally low for the two fields of : (involving students in the matter of evaluating teaching performance), utiliaing the results of students' evaluation for teaching performance).

statistically significant differences exist that can be attributed to gender, in favor of males.

there is no effect for the rest of variables.

the research provides the following recommendations : to cultivate the students with the nature of evaluating teaching performance, besides inculcating in them its objectives, its importance and the significance of their participations, enhancing the positive attitudes of staff members towards the role of students in evaluating teaching performance, and developing students' evaluation form for teaching performance.
