Abstract EN

This study aims to answer pivotal questions, the most important of which are: Did the Qur’an allude to the idea of the Earth’s sphericality or rotation? Why did it ignore to declare this publicly? This study also deals with a sensitive topic that is to rely on evidence from the Noble Qur’an to deny or prove the Earth’s rotation and sphericality.

The study has discussed from an analytical- rhetorical point of view the evidence offered by those who claim that the earth is flat and stable, through a contextual tool that we proposed to label as the relativity of the vantage point.

Previous conceptions that reflect understanding the noble Qur’anic verses without paying attention to the subtleties of the context have been investigated.

The study has also examined the methods of the Noble Qur’an in making scientific references whose reality contradicts human convictions based on perceptual cognition.

The study has concluded that the Holy Qur’an uses one of two methods: the first is scientific sophistication and the second is contextual integration.

Both methods have been deduced and inferred in this context.

As for the research method used in the study, it is not a specific and self-contained method; rather, it is a general discourse analysis and we can call it a descriptive analytical inferential analysis.

The researcher has reached an important number of conclusions, including that the flattening of the earth is a concept attributed to the Qur’an with a wrong understanding, as the Qur’an alluded more than once to the sphericity of the earth, and as the Qur’an avoided declaring the earth’s rotation and sphericality out of politeness; the cosmic verses in the Qur’an depended on the concept of contextual integration.
