Abstract EN

The study aims to assess the sustainability of economic growth and development in developing emerging oil economies, taking the case of Oman as a model.

The study used an analytical approach to assess the qualitative and quantitative dimensions of economic growth and evaluate the economic, social, institutional, and environmental dimensions of the growth and development pattern over the period 1990-2019.

The study found that there are a set of constraints facing the sustainability of growth and development in Oman, especially in qualitative aspects such as the total factors productivity, human capital quality and levels of economic complexity.

Finally, the study proposed packages of policies to address those constraints, which are consistent with the contemporary structures of the new industrial policies, particularly intelligent and selective state intervention, to ensure sustainable growth and development, as well as to reduce development gaps with developed countries.
