Abstract EN

This research aims to identify the cognitive control of the preparatory stage students and its relationship to the achievement of history.

To achieve the goals, the descriptive approach was used, as the research community consisted of the students of the fifth literary grade in the center of the Holy Karbala Governorate, who numbered (635) students in the morning study for the current academic year.

2021-2022, and the research sample amounted to (243) female students, they were chosen randomly, and the research tool was applied to them represented in preparing the cognitive control scale on *according to Stevenson's theory of Stevenson 1997) it consisted of (32) items of five alternatives, and the items of the scale were divided into two ranks : Control Cognitive control of the first rank of (14) items, and cognitive control of the second rank (18) items.

The research found the existence of cognitive control of the first and second rank among the students of the fifth literary grade, and by reviewing the results of the statistical analysis it was found that the students' answers obtained the highest results in The second rank degrees of the cognitive control scale, and this indicates that the students enjoy practicing cognitive activities and interpreting new situations on their own.
