Abstract EN

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of several electronic messaging systems in solving some field training problems, and to improve students attitude towards using them.

The sample consisted of (33) female students at Al-Quds Open University / Riyadh Branch from all disciplines of the teacher-education program at the university, namely: English, elementary education, Arabic, and mathematics.

The results showed the effectiveness of using e-mail and chat to solve many of the problems and questions posed by the students; most notably the problem of utilization of educational technologies, preparation of daily lessons, and cooperation with the school principal and other teachers.

The results, also, showed: positive attitude among the sample towards the use of electronic messaging systems in the field training program; the effectiveness of these systems in changing the traditional style of the program; the continuous interaction between students and the university officials; the satisfaction of the sample with the experiment, and their enthusiasm towards developing it and encouraging its use university-wide.

The results showed no statistically significant differences between the use of e-mail and chat in solving field training problems of educational program students at Al- Quds in Riyadh.

Based on these results, the researcher recommended: 1.

Creating a Web site for the field training program at Al-Quds Open University main campus.

Engaging academic advisers in the service especially in consulting.

3.

Employing more technologies to further utilize the electronic messaging systems such as: discussion boards, and forums.

4.

Further studies on the impact of the use of other internet services in the educational process in general, and open education in particular.
