Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the practicum training needs of Faculty of Educational Sciences students in terms of lesson planning, lesson execution and assessment from their perspectives and those of their cooperative teachers.

The study employed the descriptive method making use of a survey questionnaire consisting of 32 items distributed amongst three domains.

The survey questionnaire was administered to the study sample which consisted of (80) cooperative teachers and (80) FES fourth-year teacher trainees enrolled in the practicum programme during the first semester of the scholastic year 2008/2009.

Results revealed that the degree of the teacher trainees' estimation of their training needs was generally high on all the survey domains.

The cooperative teachers' estimation of the trainees' training needs on the planning domain was moderate, while it was high on the domains of lesson execution and assessment.

The study also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between the training needs attributed to the teaching post on the domains of planning and assessment.

However, there were statistically significant differences on the execution domain attributed to the teaching post in favour the cooperative teachers.
