Abstract EN

The judiciary in Mosul during the first Abbasid age affected by Islamic doctrines which appeared and developed.

when there was no Koranic text or Hadith, the judges restarted to Ijtihad.

Also, the Abbasid caliphs intervented in appointing and dismissing Mosul judges.

Thus, their intervention allowed them to practice their own various authorities in leading the war, collecting land taxes and administrating Mosul city plus jurisdiction.

There was no special place for the judge, so that he was holding his sessions whether at his own home or at the Mosque.

moreover the judge was free in his decision which were applied on Muslims and nonmuslims in Mosul.
