Abstract EN

This study aimed at evaluating the practicum program which has been used in the Sport Sciences Faculty at Mutah University.

The study sample consisted of all practicum students who finished the practicum at schools at the end of the second semester for the academic year 2007/2008.

They were (76 students / 42 male, 34 female).

A special instrument was developed to measure the study purpose.

Validity and reliability were inspected.

The Results of the study indicated that the objectives of the practicum program which were related to the “personality” were ranked first (mean = 4.45) in terms of achievement for the student teachers for objectives related to the “lesson implementation”, they were in the second rank (mean = 4.27).

In the third rank objectives related to the class management (mean = 4.19).

In the fourth rank came objectives related to the curriculum and planning (mean = 4.09), and finally came objectives related to the teaching evaluation (mean = 3.45).

Also, results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to any of the study variables on any dimension and / or on the instrument as a whole, except for a significant difference on the variable field available on the dimension of lesson implementation in favor of availability of one playground.

On the basis of these results, the researchers concluded that although there were simple variance among the five dimensions as objectives achieved for the students teachers, the practicum program is has achieved its goals and objectives with a very high degree.

The researchers recommended continuing using the practicum program at the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Mutah University, and working with the administration of the cooperative schools to ensure the availability of the needed equipments.
