Abstract EN

Language learners use a set of strategies to facilitate the learning process or the performance of a language task.

The present article tries to unveil the strategies used by learners in writing and more specifically in essay writing.

Then, it proceeds to a comparison of the writing strategies used by male and female students to see whether gender affects the use of writing strategies.

For these purposes, the researcher undertook a case study at the level of English 'licence' degree university students.
