English Abstract
Steel-concrete composite beams are widely used structures in civil engineering, both in bridges and building construction, because they provide better rigidity, load bearing capacity and serviceability compared to structures made of reinforced concrete or steel only.
A nonlinear horizontally curved composite one-dimensional finite element model based on displacement method is established for the analysis of curved composite beams of concrete slab and steel beams.
The composite curved beam element is based on the partial interaction theory of composite beams where the flexibility of shear connectors is allowed.
The 2-node beam element with six degrees of freedom in each node for each material was derived by using polar coordinates.
By using a layered approach for the composite beam cross section to consider the material nonlinear behavior of concrete with fibers, steel beam, shear connector and reinforcing steel through the depth of the cross sections, the method of analysis becomes capable of predicting the response of curved composite beams throughout the elastic, inelastic and ultimate load ranges in one complete analysis.
Creep and shrinkage of concrete slab is considered by the effective modulus method.
This is a simplified, but accurate procedure for predicting the creep and shrinkage effects on the composite beam behavior.
An iterative scheme based on the incremental tangent stiffness procedure is employed for the nonlinear solution algorithm using the general Newton-Rap son method.
