The study aims at reviewing the attitude of The Soviet Union towards the Cypriot crisis.

The Study starts with the year 1960 wherein Cyprus got its independence that led to a political crisis between Turkey and Greece, and other countries interfered in the issue.

The study follows up the intervention of the Soviet Union in this crisis.

The study ends at the year 1964 wherein turkey began a military intervention, which led The Soviet Union to have a political attitude.

The study reviews this attitude and the Soviet Union position towards the political developments in the Mediterranean region, in particular, the attitude towards Turkey and Greece.

Therefore, the study reviews the historical background of the Cypriot crisis since 1572 to 1960,after that the complications of the crisis and the Soviet attitude towards it in the period 1960-1964, then the changes on the international theater represented by The Soviet Union and The United States of America.

The Cypriot crisis contributed to to improving the relations between Turkey and The Soviet Union.
