Mixed parasitic infections with giardiasis among patients with acute diarrhea in Najaf City

This study was conducted to investigate the parasitic infection among out patiets with diarrhea whohad attended al- Zahra and al-hkam hospitals for six months period during the year 2006 in which 550 stool samples were examined microscopically.

It revealed a high prevalence of Girdia lsmbelia infection ( 50.9 %) .The high rate of mixed infection was for Giardia lamblia and Hymenolepis nana (31.25 %) and with Entamoeba coli. Results also involved infection by other parasites.

High prevalence of infection was in children age range (1-12 ) years .

Enterobius worm was the major one.

Other parasites were also percent but of low prevalence rate.
