Abstract EN

This study aims at highlighting the life of crusades who invaded Syria and settled there for more than two centuries.

Crusades' life was characterized by some features.

Some of these features were brought by them and some were imposed by the nature of their military life, which represented their own modes of life at that time.

Muslim temporary historians and writers noticed–throughout their observations to the events–that the ideology, customs, traditions, behavior of the crusaders and the way of life they lived were different from the Muslims' ones.

So, they (historians and writers) observed them and expressed their attitudes towards them.

The study tackled the social life of the crusaders in terms of their races, languages, attributes, nature, manners, garments, dress, traditions-in feasts and wedding ceremonies- norms, their games and their amusement means.

The study also touched on the crusaders' military life–represented by constructing castles and fortresses for the purpose of making a link with the West and making their existence in Syria perpetual.

The study also discussed the crusaders' political life manifested by monarchy, which they conveyed from Europe to Syria, their religious life–seizing a big number of mosques and turning them into churches serving their religious goals, constructing new churches, monasteries and episcopates in the countries they occupied.

The study also manifested the nature of the economic life during the crusaders' domination era on Syria including some aspects like agriculture, industry and commerce.
