Abstract EN

The field of Conflict and Peace studies is considered as a contemporary separate academic discipline, this field began to form theories and concepts in the mid of twentieth century.

Although the phenomenon of conflict is one of the oldest human phenomena.

This paper seeks to study the foundation and development of Peace, Conflict and Conflict resolution studies as a new science & separate academic field since World War II until now.

This study depends on the method of survey of much of the western contemporary literature in the field of Conflict & Peace studies, then it is proceeded in by dividing the process of development in to four phases, each one include certain elements, these elements determining the : Significance of each stage, Main scholars & their roles in this field, the existence and development of the institutional presence of this field, and finally address the core ideas addressed in each phase.

In conclusion, this study highlighted that the evolution of this field is a part of cumulative human knowledge that formed by different experiences & contributions of various civilizations & cultures.

Recently the Western academic efforts have contributed to the foundation & development of this field & to be one of the “science" & "Academic field".
