This study is aimed at determining the status of practicing planning competencies by secondary school principals in the governorate of Karak from the viewpoint of teachers.
It attempted to answer the following questions: 1- What is the extent of practicing the planning competencies by secondary school principals in Karak governorate from the viewpoint of teachers? 2- Does the degree of practicing the planning competency from the viewpoint of teachers differ due to variables of sex, experience, qualification? A random sample of 577 teachers was selected.
The results didn’t show any effect of both qualifications and experience on practicing the planning competencies by school principals, but showed that there was an effect of the sex variable and the interaction among sex, experience and qualification variables on such practicing, from the viewpoint of teachers.
The study recommends the following: 1- The findings indicated that the principals’ planning ability is less than average in expecting their needs in the light of environmental variables and in the field of deciding their wishes and objectives as well.
The study recommends to upgrade the quality of principals in these two fields through participating in intensive training courses so as to develop their skills in addition to taking part in scientific training courses held by the Public universities.
2- Holding training courses and workshops for male principals whose experience doesn’t exceed five years and don’t have Diplomas.
3- Holding training courses and workshops to all principals (Male and female) regardless of their experiences and qualifications.
4- Conducting similar studies in other govemorates in various regions in the kingdom concerning the Views and Perspectives of supervisors and those responsible for educational planning besides teachers.
5- Conducting similar studies containing other variables not discussed in this study.
