Abstract EN

This study is concerned with identifying the most important reasons responsible for students’ failure in a particular subject or subjects , as perceived by failures among the first secondary school students / scientific stream at AL-Karak govemorate.

- The findings of the study revealed that the students’ own perceptions of their failure fall into three main factors, first, factors associated with examinations, such as : test fear and anxiety, the anxiety of not getting high marks in examination, too many exams at the same time, and the insufficient time being allocated to answer examination questions.

Secondly, factors associated with content of courses, such as: the non.

interesting nature of text contents, the inappropriate distribution of subject matters on the time table, and the nature of the subject matter does not allow the students to learn all the necessary facts and principles covered by the content of a subject neither satisfy students’ needs nor are reated to their daily activities.

Finally, factors associated with teachers, such as: the teacher only gives attention to his/her own favourite students in class, and the rapid transfer of well-qualified teachers from school to another.
