The multidentate coordination ligands 3-chloro (or 3-methyl) -4H-pyrido [ 1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one derivatives have been prepared and characterized on the basis of their CHN elemental analyses, L R.

The reaction of these ligands with the diorganotin (IV) compounds R2SnCl2, to give complexes of the type R2SnCL2.L, where R= methyl or phenyl and L=pyrimidine derivative, have been described.

The complexes prepared have been similarly characterized by spectroscopic methods as well as conductivity measurements in C2H5OH and DMF, to assign nonionic species in both solvents.

Interpretation of such results are given and discussed.
