Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is two-fold: First, to identity the factors contributing to the Jordanian student occupational selection at the Jordanian universities and community colleges.

Second, to investigate the student's degree of satisfaction of their selection.

A sample of (1866) male and female students was selected randomly from the Jordanian universities and community colleges.

A two-part questionnaire was developed to be used for data gathering.

The results, were analyzed using median, multi-ANOVA, and factor analysis.

The study revealed the following findings: 1.

The Jordanian student is satisfied rn: terms of his major, and then, his occupational selection.

It has been found that the median of his satisfaction degree, using a ten point scale, is (8) for his first probable occupation, and (6) for the second one.

Sex was the only variable that has statistically significant effect on the degree of student satisfaction of his first probable occupation.

That is, femaie students, were more satisfied than male students.

While studenfs m£(jor, educational level (university or community college), and the interaction between these variables, had no significant effect.

There are three essential factors which contribute to the students occupational selection according to their majors; Psychological fabtors, social and artistic personality type, in addition to major and occupation easiness.

The following factors showed less contribution: enterprising personality typo, accidental and social environment* realistic and investigative personality type, and educational aspiration.
