Abstract EN

The aim of this research was to develop a scale for the social values in Islam, because of the great importance of these values in the learner’s personality.

The items of the scale were divided into seven factors: the family and related issues, neighbourhood ami kinship, food and drinks and clothing, social eoonomaj factor, dealing with non-Muslims, social diseases, and general principles.

The items were written on each factor, making the total number of the scale items (70).

The scale was then given to a group of specialists, according to whose opinios and notes, twetve items were deleted.

Eight more items were deleted according to the statistical item analysts, leaving the scale consisting of fifty items only.

The validity of the scale was ensured by the opinions of the specialists, by its discrimination among five groups of different academic levels, its discrimination between high and low groups on the scale.

More over, the correlation coefficient was computed between the scores on the scale and in the course of Islamic education.

The coefficient was significant at p<0.003.

Reiialility was ensured by computing cronbach alpha, which came out to equal 0.82.

The research suggested that the scale be used with elementary school childern as well as adults for the purpose of comparison between them, even though it was originally deighned for adults.
