Abstract EN

This study aims at exploring the historical development of advertisement and publicity in Sudan in the period from 1821 to 1956AD as a mean of visual communication.

This domain was affected by all economic, social and political activities which influenced its preparation, publishing and its impact on the community.

It also tackles the form, concept and objectives of the information message as well as its publication in news papers and other media.

The development in the field of printing played a major role in its development as well.

A main factor which contributed strongly to its development was the establishment of the College of Fine and Applied Art.

This factor has supported further, the development in all areas related to publicity and advertisement which resulted in establishing specialized publicity and advertisement companies where creative designers were employed.
