Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the extent of the phenomenon of Information illiteracy in he university student community, and its impact on their ability to keep pace with the developments of the times and the principles of e-government.

The study was conducted on a sample of 4th year students of the literary Departments, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Tarhoona, Al-Mergib University.

The study used descriptive survey method for monitoring and analysis of standards and information literacy skills among a sample study,through the use of questionnaire issued by the American Library Association.

The main results showed that there were statistically significant differences in favor to the skills of "determination of the amount of information" and "access to information" in the department libraries and information as well as English departments.

Beside, the skill of "ethical and legal issues" in the department of Libraries and Information.

This was attributed to the nature of courses taught to the students in these departments and then student’s awareness to the information literacy skills.

It was, also, concluded that the information literacy student was able to keep up with developments in the era and face its challenges.
