Abstract EN

The concept of " Alienation" is considered to be a "Key concept" in Social Sciences.

In Behavioral Sciences, It is considered, by some, to be a "Pivotal Concept" .

others see it as a "Pass Word" .

many human issues can be manifested.

Each researcher has his definition for Alienation and his description of its symptoms and dimensions.

So, there is no agreement among the researchers on a definition.

That is because thay differ in their cultural background, research directions and specialization.

This study provides a definite definition, whereas, it see Alienation as "A psychosocial process with cultural dimensions.

Under certain circumstances, man experiences it.

As a result, he recognizes himself, and learns, directly or indirectly, about some value systems, social traditions, and behavioral types that belong to the culture of another society.

It might be accompanied by some behavioral symptoms such as withdrawal, rejection or introversion" .

This study presents some theories that explain Alienation, such as: - The Social Theory .

- The psychological Theory .

- The Technological Theory .

- The Philosophic- Exisrential Theory .

This study presents some alienation scales used in previous studies, trying to conclude the difference and similarity of them in order to from a high valid and reliable scale; this was manifested in this study.

The scale was applied to a sample of the Egyptian university undergraduate studentes (N = 438) as follows: - Cairo Univ.

= 213 .

The study come to the following conclusions : - (%28,1) of the Egyptian ^dergraduate stud؛؛nts is alien (%6,2 is highly alien %21,9 is medial alien.) .

- There is no statistically singnificant difference between male and female subjects scores on the cultural alienation scale.

The most alien students were those of A.

(M = 7) then those ofAl-Azhar Univ.

(M = 4,1) .

- There is a statistically significant difference on alienation scale between arts colleges and science colleges students .

- The high socioeconomic students are more alien than the lower socio- economic one.
