Abstract EN

This research discusses contemporaneousness during the Umayyad’s and Abbasside’s eras by referring to the poetry of Bashar Ibn Burd.

It equally attempts to infer the systematicity of this contemporaneousness through its semantic references: the contemporary, the mixer and the coexistent, and to clearly explain the role of this division in understanding this phenomenon and discerning its value in order to show the poet’s religious beliefs and their political preferences.

It clarifies the nature of contemporaneousness as a cultural phenomenon subsuming intellectual trends clearly displaying the poet’s reality and its role in historical tensions.

The contemporaneousness of Ibn Burd is then discussed and divided into four parts: Ibn Burd the Umayyad, Ibn Burd the contemporary, Ibn Burd the mixer, and Ibn Burd the coexistent.

The conclusion sums up the gist of the research and its main findings.
