Abstract EN

Ancient Yemenis used amulets with magical ability - in their belief-for conservation and protection and to ward off the evils and dangers and for request of blessing and livelihood and good fortune.

They made them of different materials, colors and forms, all with a religious connotation.

Some amulets bear religious or talisman formulae, the most famous and common one may be the (أب، ود) which relates the idol with the worshippers, and similar thereto in the use ofthe formula (أب، حول).

The most common forms of amulets were the symbols representing deities.
