Abstract EN

This study aims at analyzing the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on banks performance in Jordan.

To achieve this objective, a research model has been developed and included entrepreneurial orientation (represented by three dimensions; innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking) as an independent variable.

The model also included banks performance as an dependent variable as well.

Study population consisted of all the (23) banks in Jordan.

The questionnaire was the main method and the research sample consisted of (145) bank managers, including top management and branch managers along with those in equal positions.

Results revealed that Jordanian banks have a high entrepreneurial orientation that affects their performance.

Results also showed that the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation vary among each other in terms of their importance and their effect on performance.

Jordanian banks are high in terms of innovativeness and proactiveness and these two dimensions affect all performance measures.

Contrary to the previous two dimensions, results showed that Jordanian banks were low with regard to risk taking.

Moreover, risk taking affects only one performance indicator, namely the development of business relationships of the banks.
