Abstract EN

The present study aims at highlighting the religious dimensions in the discourse of the poetry recited on the occasion of Valencia fall in 636 A.H.

More specifically, it elaborates more on the reasons behind this fall as recurred in this poetry such as weakness of faith together with the absence of religious integrity and tyrannies.

In that, Poets used to resort to Allah praying and complaining such a hardship.

Surely this is no strange as the battle was regarded ideological in sense.

So, there is an intense use of religious antonyms such as faith and disbelief, theism and atheism, guidance and non-guidance, monism and trinity, etc.

However, the religious discourse is not separated from the social discourse that precisely describes the influence of the fall on people's lives, migration, their seeking for a refuge, their appeal to kings, the humiliation they encounter, nostalgia for old times of pleasure and safety in Valencia, and yearning for the scenes and nature of their hometown.

It is worth mentioning that the religious dimension and the use of imagery of guidance and nonguidance together with the linguistic devices, the techniques, and the figurative language used by poets express the psyche of the people who were suffering after the siege and fall of the city.

Also, the study unveils the Valencian poets who play the role of historians that document people's emotions in different situations and contexts
