إشكالية التحولات السياسية في اليمن : الفرص و التحديات 1990-2012

Abstract EN

This study discusses the political transitions in Yemen during the nineties of the twentieth century, "phase I," which is the beginning of the new millennium until the last presidential election Yemen has witnessed in 2012, which is considered the beginning of "Phase II." The historicaland analytical approaches are used throughout the study of the transitional process, determining its inputs and outputs.

The study also addresses the factors that contribute to the acceleration of the democratization process, whether internal or external, including: political, economic and social developments.

The study includes analysis of the Multi-parliamentary elections, and the importance of Yemeni citizens practice of election process and its impact on political life in Yemen; in addition to the presidential election and its impact on the democratic process of Yemen, passing through the youth Yemeni revolution in 2011 that led to the resignation of President "Ali Abdullah Saleh" from his position, and the holding of early presidential elections in 2012 that resulted in the winning of the candidate "Abed Rabbo Mansur Hadi." This study addresses the nature of the obstacles facing the democratic experience in Yemen and how to deal with it.

It concludes that the political transition process in Yemen has a kind of a very complex nature, due to various political, economic, and social powers of both internal or external dimesions.
