Abstract EN

The study aims at evaluating biology textbooks of the intermediate grade according to total quality standards for the academic year 2011- 2012.

To achieve this aim, an instrument has been built for total quality standards.

The list, in its final form, consists of( 8) primary standards including the quality of the aims of the book,( the scientific content, the activities, the questions, graphics and illustrating forms, the technical production, the introduction, preparation and composition), out of which spread (161) secondary standards .The content analysis includes the analysis of three books about (522) pages.

The list is viewed by a group of experts and its reliability and stability are found.

It has been reached at certain findings: such as the biology textbooks in the intermediate grade are good in comparison with the standard ratio used by the researcher depending on the experts' opinions and it is 70 %.

The quality of the scientific content standard is greatly performed in the biology textbooks, while that of the quality of the introduction is weakly performed.

It has been reached at certain recommendations, Increasing the care about the skillful and emotional sides in biologytextbooks since some of the standards concerning those sides are semi-absent.

Reconsidering the introduction of the book because it was not up to demanded level.

The researchers have suggested to make a similar study about chemistry and physics book.
