Abstract EN

This paper tries to explore the message implied in the Mahmoud Darweesh’s Jedarya (wall poem) (wp) through a linguistic approach that investigates the denotation of rhythm and probing the text through examining its linguistic components i.e phonetic/ morphological and structural.

It also analyzes its implications and relates them to rhythm, which is strongly connected with signification on the basis that any defect in the free balance between the rhythm of denotation and the denotation of rhythm would damage the poetic touch of the poem and would certainly damage its poetic structure and rules.

The paper has come to the conclusion that the semantic space suggested by the general rhythmic structure of Darweesh's (wp), starting from the title itself throngh the total network of the text with its shades and implications basically stems from the poet's battle with death and his devotion to real existence i.e life.

the poet of resistance, this also means something equivalent to the awaited ambition of returning to the land and the indentity.
