Abstract EN

This study aims at tackling parallelism in Mahmoud Darweesh's collection of poems “kazahri il-lawzi aw ab'aad" (Like the Blossoms of Almonds or Further).

It first begins with an overview of other researchers trends investigating parallelism.

Then, two types of parallelism are discussed because of their frequent appearance in the poems.

The two types are Synonymous Parallelism, and Synthetic Parallelism.

The study also attempts to investigate parallelism and rhyme.

In doing so, cases of internal rhyme and end-line rhyme are exposed as well as rhythmic variation in modem poetry.

The study concludes that parallelism and rhyme play a significant role in the production and development of meaning as well as in enriching poems with developed critical aspects that help show the new identity of modem poetry.

The study also shows dimensions of stylistic combinations among the internal units of the text and the reflection of all that on meaning.
