Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the real actual position of training the Arabic language teachers in the Government Basic Schools of Khartoum State.

The writer used the descriptive method of research in the theoretical part of the study and statistical methods in analyzing the data in the field part of the study (SPSS).

He designed a questionnaire composed of one hundred and eight competences representing the least number of competences that should be owned by the Arabic language teacher in the basic school level.

He carried out the face validity test of the tool of the research (The Questionnaire) by referring it to a panel of academic judges.

He amended the Questionnaire according to their observations, as relates to the test of stability, Cronbach’s alpha was used and it indicated a range of stability between 0.91-0.81 which indicated that the total of the Research was stable to a reasonable extent.

The sample of the research was chosen randomly and it represented 15.43% of the population of the study which is a reasonable percentage for generalizing the results of the study.

The results of the study were as follows: The Arabic language Teachers who did not receive any training and who teach in the Basic Schools represent (5.4%) of the total number of the sample of the study (13.7%) received only one short course -14.4% received two courses and 28.3% received three short courses.

It is worth nothing that these short courses are given to new comer to the profession of teaching to introduce them to the job and acquaint then with its environment.

So they do not actually raise the level of their competences.
