Abstract EN
Classical and modern literary critics have different opinions about alHamthānī's maqāmāt, its artistic value, the motivation behind composing this kind of literary text and the relationship between maqāmāt and the social life of its author.
However, some of these literary critics have attempted to link al-Hamthānī's maqāmāt to learning objects and argued that the maqāmāt were composed with the aim of helping the students to attain high standards of spoken Arabic.
Hence, in light of the German philosopher Wolfgang Iser's theory of reception, the purpose of the present study is to criticize the opinion that links al-Hamthānī's maqāmāt to learning objects and prove that one of al-Badīʻ's purposes was to compose a literary text that enables the recipients from different social classes to receive his implicit messages.
