Abstract EN

This research deals with the criminal protection of private life, as the UAE legislature is interested in criminalizing the infringement of private life in Article 378 Criminal Act/ Penal law, which criminalizes eavesdropping or recording conversations, and taking pictures by any means, and publicly publishing secrets related to private life.

The paper discusses mainly the regulations that the legislature organized to tackle this type of crimes.

Due to the difference of the subject-matter of the criminal act in each specific case the authors have chosen to address each crime separately, indicating the essential elements and penalty of each crime.

However, it was essential to investigate the concept of privacy and private life before carrying out the study.

The conclusion included the most important findings and recommendations.
