Abstract EN

The concept of defamiliarization is one of the important and new concepts in stylistic researches and it has been used in surveys of literary texts.

It has different kinds and approaches, but John Kohn`s theory is one of the most important approaches.

Kohn divides this concept to 4 levels: 1.

Phonetic level, 2.

Vocabulary level, 3.

Semantic level, 4.

Syntactic level.

Adunis is one of the poets who have used this technique in a beautiful, artistic, and widespread way.

In using this technique, he is the most perfect poet between Arab poets.

So this poet and two cases of the most important Kohn`s approaches, that are near to Arabic rhetoric, have been chosen.

The first approach is semantic defamiliarization that includes recitative pictures of rhetoric, and the other is syntactic defamiliarization that means escaping of grammars govern syntactic of norm language.

We consider these approaches in the second book of the poet: leaves in the wind.

Adunis has deviated standard language and used John Kohn`s techniques in his poems.

We can see in his poems different literary styles and techniques in semantic defamiliarization like metaphor, simile, metonymy, paradox, and symbol.

In syntactic defamiliarization, he has deviated standard language and making sentences by putting a word in the first of a sentence or a phrase while its place is another position, delaying the position of words, eliminating, repeating, and Eltafat.

This survey shows that Adunis doesn't look at this stylistic concept as 84 an end for his poems, but he has used it as a means for making his poetic language more beautiful.
