Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to investigate the reasons of children labor phenomenon in Mafraq governorate as perceived by social studies teachers and the degree of differences in those causes according to the differences in gender and educational directorate.

The sample of the study consisted of (143) male and female, selected through random cluster sampling.

To achieve the aim of this study, the study adopted the descriptive survey approach through designing a questionnaire consisted of (44) items.

The findings of the study showed that the evaluations of teachers in Mafraq governorate for the reasons of children labor phenomenon were in an average importance degree.

Furthermore, the most important reasons were related to family, followed by the factors related to the school and its educational role, and there are other reasons related to the role of public and control originations as well as the legislations protecting children from going to labor market.

The findings of the study showed there are differences in the importance degree of children labor phenomenon as perceived by teachers, attributed to teachers› gender in favor of males; while, there were no differences in the importance degree of children labor phenomenon as perceived by teachers attributed to the educational directorate.

The study reached a number of recommendations, including the need to activate the laws directed to the reduction of children labor.
