موقف القانون الدولي من المستوطنات الإسرائيلية على الأراضي الفلسطينية

Abstract EN

Following Palestine’s acceptance as a “non-member observer State” to the United Nations in November 2012, Israel announced the construction of new settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The construction of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories is considered to be one of the main obstacles for peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a whole and the questions on the legality of Israeli settlements in the West Bank in particular involve historical, religious and political positions of the conflicting parties that seem barely reconcilable.

Faced with these complex and conflicting views, this article argues that the international law could serve as an ‘objective framework’ to clarify some of the disputed issues.
