Abstract EN

Slavery is an enduring issue in the history of nations.

It is primarily a social issue, where the human being is dominated and deprived of his basic human rights.

It is practiced not only in uncivilized societies, but also, until recently, by many civilized cultures as well.

The study sheds light on the origins of slavery and the factors that led to its emergence during the feudal period in Europe as well as its use after the discovery and colonization of the Americas.

It consists of three parts: the first part deals with the emergence of the system and the second addresses the development of this system in Europe and the United States.

The third part deals with its eradication after the French revolution and the American civil war.
